Karpaty jsou pokračováním písně „Oči partyzánů“ z našeho prvního alba. Je o pocitu bezmoci a vzteku v temných časech a osobních obětech během války, kdy tisíce lidí z okolí Uherského Brodu nasazovaly každý den život v boji proti nacistické okupaci. Když vyrazíš s rodinou na výlet do okolních kopců, možná někomu ve stínu stromů šlapeš po hrobě.
V okolí Uherského Brodu působilo během 2. sv války skoro dva tisíce partyzánů a několik tisíc místních obyvatel je přímo podporovalo. V okolí našeho města pak probíhaly tvrdé boje s ustupujícími fašisty i po formálním datu osvobození ČSR. Během posledních měsíců války zde bylo popraveno přes čtyři sta lidí za pomoc partyzánským jednotkám a v dalších místech zlínského kraje zemřely další stovky během represivních opatření.
The Carpathians are a sequel of the song “Eyes of the Partisans” from our first album. It is about the feeling of helplessness and rage in dark times and personal sacrifices during the war, when thousands of people around Uherský Brod (our band hometown) put their lives in stake every day to fight the Nazi occupation. If you go on a family trip to the surrounding hills, you may be over someone’s grave in the shade of trees.
There were almost two thousand partisans and several thousand local residents directly supporting them in the vicinity of Uherský Brod during World War II. Tough fights with the retreating fascists were carried even after the formal date of liberation of the Czechoslovakia in surroundings of our town. During the last months of the war over four hundred people were executed here for the help of partisans, and in other parts of the Zlín region hundreds died during repressive measures.
